Is there a future for cultured meat?

On February 8, a free webinar on lab-grown artificial meat, organized by EAAP, will try to take stock of this controversial topic.

Ecological, sustainable and ethical or Frankenstein food, able to seriously threaten the work of farmers? The debate on artificial lab-grown meat is getting hotter and it is good to clarify some key aspects concerning new technologies.

For this reason, the EAAP, the European Federation of Animal Sciences, which has been promoting research and scientific dissemination in the field of animal science for over 70 years, has organized a webinar focused on artificial lab-grown meat for next 8 February 2022.

This is an extremely interesting subject as it presents itself as a real hypothesis to meet the dietary needs of all humanity in the near future. EAAP, thanks to more than four thousand members, has carefully selected the best speakers and experts in the field.

The webinar will be chaired by Jean-François Hocquette, a high-level researcher at the French National Institute for Agricultural and Environmental Research (INRAE, France) and president of the French Association for Animal Production (AFZ). There will also be contributions by Federica Cheli and Carlotta Giromini, Professors of the University of Milan, and Daniele Asioli, Professor at the University of Reading (UK).

The "Sustainable Meats" Project aims to identify the key topics, the state of knowledge and the most recent technical scientific trends, with the aim of showing that meat production and consumption can be sustainable, both for health and for the environment.
